Henry is 4 months old!

It's hard to believe that Henry is already four months old! It has flown by. We had his check-up, and he is doing great. He was 14#10oz, and he was short - I can't remember the length! We just can not believe that he is measuring short! haha. He is just happy as a little clam and such a trooper. He loves to laugh - I think his favorite thing is to look at himself and mommy in the mirror while I hold him. He gets dragged all over the world, but such is life when you're #2, I guess. He seems to take it in stride. He LOVES Leo, and the feeling is mutual, so it will be a miracle if he makes it in one piece to his first birthday. He can hold his head up pretty well now, and he is starting to reach out for toys. He can take his paci in and out of his mouth, which I'm not sure is a good thing!

Valentine's Day

We had a fun but busy Valentine's Day. First Leo had his party at school - he had a wonderful time singing songs, eating his cookie, and looking at all his loot.

His request this year was to make Rice Krispie Treats for V-Day, so he got to help whip up a yummy batch for us all to share.

Todd got me a really special present this year for V-Day. He found a necklace with a heart charm that has four pearls inside (I know, the picture has 3 - but mine has 4!) to represent our little family. It is so special to me!

Current State of Affairs

We are doing OK here this week. It's that nasty time of the year again - when illnesses are just bouncing among us. We seem to be on the mend for now, but I predict we'll all be sick again before the reprieve - which is Spring Break. Our ped says that school letting out for a week gives all the bugs a chance to die, and that seems to be pretty accurate. Both of the boys are on the mend, but we are still doing breathing treatments to keep the coughing at bay. I did one at 3:30am this morning w/Leo and one at 4:15am w/Henry, so it was quite a night.

I am in the process of finding a new preschool for Leo for next year. This year he has been at the lab school at Plano East High School, and it has been wonderful. But it is only a half-day program, and he just needs a longer day. Every child is different, and this child is ready for a longer day! My first choice is FUMC Allen, but we are on a waiting list there. I found another church that is S on Los Rios that seems to be a great fit, and I don't think we'll have any trouble getting in there. So we'll probably go ahead and get on their roster and only move to FUMC Allen if a 3-day spot comes available.

Being a SAHM to Leo continues to be a challenge. It hasn't been a successful day for him if he hasn't asked why or what's gonna happen if or argued with me about everything nine million times. Some days it is all I can do to hold on by my fingernails until the cavalry (aka Daddy) arrives at 6:15. Somehow I have failed at helping him learn to play alone in his room - wherever I am, that's where he needs to be. He doesn't nap anymore, but many afternoons I send him (against his will) to his room for an hour or so just so that I can regroup.

Henry is a delight. He is smiley and happy and so loving. One of my favorite parts of life with Henry so far has been using the Moby to carry him on outings. He has now discovered that he can ride facing out, and he will no longer ride snuggled up against me - he has to be able to see. It is just the most wonderful thing to have him on eyelevel with the rest of the world, and I am also able to keep a running dialog with him since he is so close to me. I went to a meeting Tues. night to try other options for babywearing as he gets heavier. I am most interested in the Mai Tai and the Storchenweige - I'm not sure which to invest in. I kept a low-profile hoping that they wouldn't find out that I'm a pretender ;) - not a breastfeeder, cosleeper, homeschooler, attachment parenter, cloth diaperer, non-vaxxer, non-circumciser, etc. But I think they could smell the formula powder residue on my clothing. hahahahaha. What an interesting little mothering world we have created - where we all have to have these labels and exist in our little camps. All I know is that I'm just doing the best that I can to rear these two beautiful little men. :)

Leo and Henry are going to Brooksie and Papa's next weekend, and Todd and I are looking forward to a weekend alone!

hack, hack, cough, cough

It's hard to stay well when you have a big brother in preschool, gymnastics, swimming, etc. Leo brought home a cold last week to share with with Henry and me. Henry's cold turned into RSV, so he is on breathing treatments and steroids. It lasts for 10 days. Ugh. We started the meds on Friday, and they seem to be helping. He is sleeping and eating fine, he just has a nasty cough and wheeze.
