Chair Changes!

What an exciting life I lead! Blogging about chairs. I finally got around to recovering our nasty kitchen chairs. Here is a before...

And here is an after! We have two of each fabric. PLUS they are each covered with clear vinyl. So...spill things on them, wipe your grimy hands on them after you eat spaghetti-o's, grind your playdoh into them...NO WORRIES!!

Next, I have finally had enough of my hate/hate relationship with this awful monstrosity. It is a b*tch to clean - and that is a nice way to say it. So I kicked it to the curb! I'm so glad to be rid of it. I had taken the upholstery off long ago, but it still had nooks and crannies that I could never get all the crumbs and chunks out of. YUCKY!!!

And...now for the replacement! I think I am in love. It is just solid molded plastic...very easy to wipe down...it weighs next to nothing...and it disassembles in seconds to fit in the trunk. There was a tray for $5 more, but I thought...why don't I just wipe up his mess on THE TABLE when I wipe up Leo's mess on THE TABLE?!? It is the best $20 I have spent in a long time.

This is the best picture from Henry's session today. This is BY FAR my favorite. I was a little disappointed with the whole deal - photographer being trained, put together they didn't have one whole personality between them, and his hair is funky in several of them. But I thought this one was really good.

Salad Days

What's going on at our house this week? Leo is doing a "gymnastics camp for boys" through the parks and rec department from 9-12 every day. Today was his first day, and he seemed to love it. Of course, he told me his favorite thing was jumping - that's always his answer, and he is getting very outdone that I have to ask all the time. OF COURSE his favorite thing is jumping - on the TRAMPOLINE - and I don't need to ask...it should be understood!!

Wednesday, I am taking Henry to have his 9 mos pics made, so watch this spot! I have his dressy outfit - hoping to find a cute casual one tomorrow. If not, he might just have it done in the dressy. He's doing great at crawling. He's slowly figuring out that HE can decide where he wants to go. He crawled from the living room into our bedroom to find Leo the other day and seemed so proud of himself.

And me? I'm just trying to keep everyone fed. Todd takes his lunch to work most days, and Leo still wants a Bento Box even when he eats lunch at home. So this morning I got busy and got several meals done at once...

A - two tuna stuffed tomatoes for Todd and me for supper tonight. I'll put some parmesan on and broil. Leo will have plain tuna.
B - Leo's Monday lunch...peanut butter bagel, prosciutto, pasta, grapes, olives, smoked gouda, marshmallow thingies (he ate all but the prosciutto and grapes)
C - Todd's Tuesday lunch - tuna w/crackers on top, pasta salad w/Gorgonzola, tomato cucumber salad, grapes
D - Leo's Tuesday lunch - tuna w/crackers, pasta, cheese, grapes

I'm proud of myself for getting ahead a little bit! We really love using the Laptop Lunchbox and the Bento Box-style packing.

A great week

Last Monday, I had an epiphany that we had to get Brooksie (my mom) over here before she starts school again so that Todd and I could investigate possible 'burbs for our big move next year. So, I called her Monday morning, and she was here by that afternoon. She starts school in a couple of weeks, so time was of the essence. Tuesday night, I met Todd at his office at quitting time, and we tried the drive to Grapevine and then Keller. The time to the Grapevine exit was 30 minutes, and it was 55 minutes to the Keller border. We were pretty down b/c we have heard so many wonderful things about Keller. We decided that we must find a way to avoid as much of 121 as possible - it was a parking lot.

Wednesday, I met him again, and we tried Coppell - and I think we've found a winner! We made it all the way to the northern border of Coppell in 25 minutes, so anything within it's borders would be a great commute. The best part is that he only has to be on a major freeway for a few miles. Coppell has schools with wonderful reputations, and we liked the areas we saw on our drive. We feel great about it.

Friday, Gran came into town to keep the boys so that Todd and I could have a little "date" weekend. She brought Leo's cousin Lauren (Aunt Andrea came, too, and went to visit a relative in FW), and they stayed here and played while we had a mini vacation. Saturday morning, we did a 5K in the sticky humidity, but it was a fun race. Todd beat me, of course, but my time was 32:44 (10:32 pace!!!) - that's an accomplishment for me! Todd's time was 30:47! A great way to start the weekend.

We ate breakfast at Poor Richard's, and then later we went to see Hairspray (left before the end - I'd give it a C). We checked into the Crowne Plaza down in Dallas and lounged around until going to dinner at Mango, a Thai restaurant down in Dallas. The highlight of that meal was a delicious Seafood Curry that Todd ordered.

We came back to the hotel and continued our wine and dark chocolate date night tradition. This time, we tried chocolate with orange bits, dark chocolate with cinnamon and red pepper, and Central Market Truffles. They were all delicious.

From all accounts, Gran and the kids had a wonderful time at the house! Leo was wiped out and fell asleep before bedtime last night.
