Open House at Leo's School

Leo's school had Open House the Thursday before Spring Break. They spend weeks getting all their projects ready for this. The first graders have been studying about rainforests, so we got to see all sorts of projects based on that.

You can see Leo's little projects on the table behind him. We did the diorama at home. He made the animals out of Crayola Model Magic.

The diorama has a leopard, a termite mound, a snake, a parrot, and a sloth.

I am so impressed with the way they teach writing, research, etc. in first grade!

First they did research and gathered their information...

Then they used this to write their paper about their animal...Great!

More writing! This one is about the different layers of the rainforest. The paper was folded the long way...then they drew the rainforest...and you lifted the flaps to read about each layer beneath its picture.
