Leo: Bye Daddy! Drive safely!
Daddy: I will!
(we close the door)
Leo: Why didn't Daddy say yes?
Me: Well, he said "I will."
Leo: But why didn't he say yes?
Me, defeated (envisioning the many hours ahead): I don't know, Leo.
Leo: Well, I think it's just because Daddy is a scourge.
