Comments

When I went to pick Leo up from his swimming class on Friday, one of the moms who has been at the class for several weeks said, "Is your son just always "on"? He seems like he would be on go from morning to night!"

Um. Yes. To put it mildly. That's my boy.

As I was getting his clothes on him after class, his teacher came over and said, "Leo is just the most polite boy. He always says please and thank you - he is just a joy to work with."

And that's my boy too!!!

New rule

WARNING: I'm going to talk about gross bodily functions.

Well, after cleaning diarrhea off of Henry (2nd bath of the day) and the Hop N Pop, I thought we were done for the day. He's on antibiotics, so his diapers have been bad.

Leo wanted to have an ice cream sandwich after dinner, so I told him he had to try everything on his plate, which included one wedge of new potato. After cleaning up vomit (he gagged) from the floor, the chair, and hosing the clothes and the booster seat down out in the yard...we have a new rule....

Eat what you want off your plate. I don't care. It isn't worth it to me to clean up vomit just to make him like potatoes.

R & R

This weekend Todd and I got some much needed R&R! We have been planning this for a long time, and it was wonderful!

Brooksie and Papa came in to town on Friday night to stay with the boys. Saturday morning Todd and I got up very early and got ready to head down to Greenville Avenue for the St. Patty's Day Dash. It was my first 5K post-partum, and I have been working very hard to get ready for the race. This was Todd's second 5K, and his goal was to run the whole race without stopping. My goal was to finish with a time close to my pre-pregnancy times. It was a beautiful day, and we both had wonderful runs. The course was beautiful except for a big crowd on narrow streets (4000 people) and a cruel hill in Mile 3, but we enjoyed it! I hit the finish line at 33 minutes (I think that's my best 5K time yet!), and Todd finished just a little ahead of me - running the whole way. We were thrilled. We found a great little oyster joint where we could hang out and have some drinks and appetizers, and we just basked in a little runner's high for a couple of hours and watched the start of the parade.

Then we came back to Plano and got in our hotel room early. We watched Dreamgirls at the hotel - so nice to watch a whole movie in peace! This weekend was also an anniversary celebration, and we had reservations Saturday night at the Oceanaire in The Westin at The Galleria. We played dress-up and had some wonderful fish creations - crab cakes, Red Snapper, and Mahi Mahi. On the way home we stopped at Central Market and picked up a bottle of Merlot and some dark chocolates to enjoy when we got back to the hotel - what a great evening!

This morning we tried to sleep as late as we could - it's a challenge for us when we're used to getting up at the crack of dawn! We watched TV from bed and then went to The Blue Mesa for their wonderful Sunday brunch before coming home. It was a perfect weekend, and a great chance to relax and reconnect.

I think we're both having a little trouble coming back to real life! ;)
