Leo's Zip Line

Leo saw this Zip Line on this cool website, and he wanted to make one.

He got frustrated by it at first and wanted me to help. I tried, but I just didn't have the patience to mess with it and get it all balanced. He gave up for awhile, and then he went upstairs and did it a different way in his bedroom. He got it to work all by himself.

Henry the Napper Update

We're no longer taking a nap EVERYday, but he usually does. I've discovered that I can put him down for a nap on the couch or my bed for just a little bit - he can go to sleep anywhere. Very nice. He gets this from his daddy.

On this day, he was in time-out for something....so he just went to sleep. That's the concrete floor in the kitchen.

We don't often get "babies" put to sleep around here, so I had to take a picture of this. Henry tucked him in for the night.

Henry as The Last Airbender

Henry loves to watch a little kid show called Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Photobucket

In the show, he often wears that stick he's holding on his back. So....Henry wanted to wear his "stick for killing bad guys" on his back. A tomato stake and a bathrobe belt...voila! (He's watching the show while putting it on.)

Rollerskating

One morning in July, we went rollerskating. Leo took to it really quickly and had a great time. He didn't know how to skate when we got there, and within an hour he had found his balance and was skating.

Henry was another story. He wanted me to help him, but didn't want me to touch him. They had little frames made out of PVC to help him skate. There was lots of crying, screaming, frustration, and sweating (me)...so he didn't last for long. I tried to get him to skate on the carpet, but he was DONE.

For the next week, Henry told me he wanted to go ice skating. I just smile and nod at that one.

Italian Ice

It said 109 on my car thermometer today. Crazy. I think that was the Heat Index....but still crazy. It's like stepping into an oven every time we leave the house. And our house feels smaller b/c we can't eat outside like we love....the boys can't play outside very long....no activities in the evening. We miss it so much. I don't feel sad or down very often, but this time of year is just so oppressive to me EVERY YEAR. We fantasize about moving to a tiny apartment in San Francisco.

So, anyway, today we went to a new treat shop called Rita's Italian Ice. It was like a fancy sno-cone, and they are very reasonably priced. Henry had Tropical Punch flavor, and Leo and I had S'Mores flavor. Yummy!
