Just a Thursday

We went to the park for a little bit today, and Henry loved trying the swings for the first time. And, of course, Leo was climbing, climbing, climbing...and jumping. They say we're going to have a little cool front next week - yay for Fall!

Preschool Flashback and Update

Thought this would be a fun comparison. This is Leo's picture from his first day of preschool last year:

And this year:

Leo had a great time today - he was in a SUPER mood when I picked him up, and he told me more details about his day than he has ever shared before. Apprently, Ms. Christie used a Cowboy Bob puppet, and his horse is named Henry - what a coincidence! His favorite part of the day was working puzzles. I also got a full report on "Joe" (name changed) who "cried up" (Leo's words) twice about washing his hands and sharing toys. Leo was totally baffled about why someone would cry at preschool. When "Joe" wasn't crying, he was being mean - he and another child had to sit on the brown mat and talk out their differences.

He seems to have had a great day!

Of course it is raining. It is always either snowing or raining when I have to get Leo, Henry, and a bunch of supplies out of the car. Today it was a full backpack and a sack of school supplies. Oh, well. Anyway, we started school at a new place today. Leo was a tiny bit hesitant, but he was excited when he saw the classroom and new kiddos to meet. I was excited when the new director told me that she is going to do curbside pickup in the afternoons! WooHoo! I was very disappointed last year when I signed him up and they told me they didn't do pickup - maybe this is meant to be!

As I was walking him to his class, somebody from down the hall yelled..."Holly Brooks!!!" Wow, it was so weird to hear that. I thought it must be someone from Ouachita - I run into OBU people around here from time to time - but it was a girl who taught 5th grade at my school in Allen. We had a little chat. Her oldest had gone to preschool at this place and she loved it, so now her youngest is starting. That reassured me. It will be nice to see a familiar face.

I was a little concerned about putting Leo's picture up with his sign with the name of his school. Then I realized it wasn't a problem...because I had written the wrong church on his sign! Saved by my own idiocy. And as a bonus - it has a grammatical error!

Our Labor Day

We had a very nice Labor Day weekend. Leo and I spent lots of time out in our neighborhood riding his bike and exploring the ponds and trails. We also played miniature golf on Sunday night, and we had a blast. It was raining when we got there, so most people left...and we had the course almost to ourselves. We had a fabulous time!
