Fall Carnival

This Fall, I joined a local mommies' group for mothers of preschoolers. I am really enjoying it. They have lots of different interest groups and meetings with great speakers - I should have joined last year.

Tonight was their annual Fall Carnival, and older siblings were invited, too. Since Todd was camping all weekend and stayed with the boys last night while I went to bunco, I offered to do this activity by myself. We had a great time, and they were really well behaved. I talked with Leo beforehand about being gentle and not running over the little ones, and he did great.

Henry was right in there with the big kids - I couldn't believe it. He also wore a costume, which is a first. This is actually his costume from last year that he never wore. When I said tonight..."The kids can wear costumes to this - do you want to wear yours?" He said "yes," and I almost fell over! He was climbing up the obstacle course with the big kids, and also stood in line for about ten minutes to get his face painted. He was SO PROUD of his lion paint and was not happy when it had to be washed off at bedtime. I told him I would put his pictures on the computer tonight so that he can look at them tomorrow - so here we go...

(Oh, and in case you're wondering...Leo is GI Joe Snake Eyes. I have no idea what that is. Yes, it is just a solid black costume, and he doesn't wear the mask. But he is thrilled, so I call that a Happy Halloween!)

Henry is in the red furry Elmo costume. He is climbing the rope ladder on the bounce house obstacle course.

He made it to the top of the slide by climbing that rope ladder. Mommy is in shock at this point.

Leo has now had his face painted. He did a great job of standing in line alone for the activities he wanted. I had to stick with Henry, and I was so glad he was mature enough to handle this.

After Henry saw Leo, he immediately had to have his face painted. We stood in line for about ten minutes. He was nervous about getting in the chair, but very determined. He also got a little agitated when she was doing the paint, but he hung in there!

He was thrilled, but I didn't get a shot of the smile.

Now Leo has a parrot on his shoulder. And some pirate bling, I guess.
