Sweet and Innocent Heart

Leo: Are you going to stay here and take care of Henry while I'm at Brooksie and Papa's next week?
Me: No, Henry is going to go to Louisiana with you.
Leo. Oh. (pause...thinking) You and Daddy are going to stay here and take care of each other?
Me: Yes, we'll take care of each other while you're gone.

I just love his little spirit sometimes.

In Leo news...

We had a big day today.

#1. I think this one shows how God has a sense of humor. Leo won't wear half the shirts in his closet b/c they are "silly." He pitches a big fit about what seems like random shirts that do not meet his approval. He needs some shorts and shirts for summer, so I took him with me to get his opinion for the first time ever. Well, it turns out that silly shirt actually means "doesn't have a picture, character, cartoon, etc. on it." So the mom who likes classic, simple clothing will have a son in screen printed t-shirts with disney characters, monster trucks, and dinosaurs on them for the summer. That's ok - I have a new baby doll to play with who doesn't have an opinion yet.

#2. We saw the eye doctor today, and both his eyes are now of equal strength. So, no more glasses! It's kind of bittersweet. I'm glad not to have to keep up with them, but he sure was cute in them.

I can't stop myself

When I download new pictures of Henry, I always think of pictures of Leo that seem similar to me.

Henry is 6 months old!

It's hard to believe Henry is already six months old! He is such a fun baby, and we are enjoying every minute of his first year. We went to the doctor for his checkup, and he weighed in at 17.5 pounds! He has started solid foods, but he has much stronger preferences than Leo displayed at this age. He is NOT interested in rice or oatmeal cereal in any form, and he has turned up his nose at peas and avocado. He will eat applesauce, peaches, pears, and bananas though...maybe he has a sweet tooth! I gave him a biter biscuit on Friday, but he is pretty unimpressed with those. He is very close to being able to sit up on his own - I'll have some professional pictures made when he hits that milestone.

Our Little Container Garden

Even though I am still bitter about all my tomatoes that burned up last year and my morning glories that didn't grow, I decided to give it one more try. This year, we are doing herbs and a few veggies in containers on the patio. The containers and the layout aren't very pretty, but we're hoping for a great crop of jalapeƱos, bell peppers, maybe a tomato or two, and lots of basil, rosemary, parsley, and thyme.

We are hoping to have blue Morning Glories and Cypress Vine growing in the two containers on the left, and I have my fingers crossed that maybe some Moonflowers will come up in the third container. Last time I did Moonflowers, they didn't even sprout. Maybe this is my year. We can see this fence from our living room window, and when the Morning Glories do well, it's so much fun to look at them all summer. Leo helped me with planting the seeds.

Henry supervised from the patio.
