Cozumel!

While Brooksie and Papa kept the boys at our house, Todd and I had a wonderful get-away weekend to Cozumel. This was the view from our hotel room. The weather alternated between sunny and rainy, and the temperature was in the 70s to low 80s. Aaaaaah...

We dove Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I was nervous on Friday - getting my fins under me again - but I was more relaxed by Saturday afternoon. The reefs at Cozumel are just out of this world, and we saw many of the usual suspects. Nurse sharks, lobster, spotted rays, sea turtles, pufferfish, flounder...it is just spectacular. We also did many beautiful swim-throughs - where you swim through huge reefs that tower over you...kind of like swimming under a bridge of coral. It's just majestic. One of the reefs that we did on Saturday seemed to be a nursery - lots of babies of lots of species. Neat-o! I had never seen a baby Drum before, and I think it was my favorite from this trip. It looked just like this, and it was probably a little smaller than my palm.

Linda, a new friend on our boat, got this shot of Todd and me in the water. No one looks great in scuba gear, but I'm glad to have a picture of us together in the water!

Cozumel is very relaxing and has great restaurants, so when we weren't on the boat...we were either eating downtown or napping on the beach after a good margarita. It was very relaxing. I am having a hard time coming back to reality this week.

How our garden grows...

Our little container garden is doing well. Thanks to lots of rain and not so much sun as last year, things are coming along.

We have a few jalapeƱos...

A couple of tomatoes have started to appear...

The morning glories and hummingbird vine are starting to reach for the lattice...

And the moonflowers are really going crazy!

We have already had a bumper crop of basil, so I made a huge batch of pesto! We used some for pizza, and I froze some for later. The pizza was wonderful!
