Open House at the Fire Station

Last Sunday, Leo and I went to the local firestation for an "Open House." The idea here is that people will become familiar with their firemen and other emergency services in a calm and non-emergency environment. We did this while Daddy stayed home with Henry for Naptime.

Just as we pulled up, a CareFlight Helicopter was circling. Leo loved watching it land! We were very close to it - it was really neat-o!

Two Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders were there. Leo wasn't interested in that at all.

He was much more interested in commissioning a balloon sword.

Quick Update

I still haven't had time to sitdown and upload pictures. I will try to soon.

*The weather is getting nicer here, and we are enjoying our new yard. The high was in the 80s every day last week - lovely! We're back to the 90s this week but hope it will be back down soon.

*Leo somehow pried a thumbnail up with a pencil at school. All we can get out of him is that his hand slipped. It happened over a week ago, and we went to the doctor. There wasn't much they could do. Last week, it fell off completely. It doesn't seem to hurt or bother him, but I can hardly look at it. Daddy does all fingernail maintenance.

*Leo loves school and has made lots of new friends. Living right behind the school is just perfect! So far, he has gotten great marks for behavior from his teacher. In the car this weekend, he was telling us about another child who had to move his behavior card, and I expressed that I would be very disappointed if that happened with Leo. He was quiet for awhile, and then he said..."You know, Mommy, sometimes Ms. Price just makes kids move their behavior card for no reason. She just walks over and tells them to move it, even though they haven't done anything wrong." Stinker. Todd and I both informed him that we knew that wasn't true, and that we would know he had made a bad choice if he has to "move his card." hahahaha!

*Henry is still lots of fun, but we can tell that the Terrific Twos are upon us. We are enjoying lots of fits, whining, etc. He is very verbal, so it's nice that he can communicate so well. He loves to hear us sing, and some of his favorites are "Frere Jacques," "Kookaburra," "Twinkle, Twinkle," and "You are My Sunshine." He is going to MDO 2 days a week and has a great time. They are blown away by how well he talks, and they say he is always captivated by the animals the science teacher brings in to his classroom.

*Todd is working on a presentation for work that is requiring him to absorb lots of new knowledge, so that is taking up lots of his free time.

*I have been working on getting lots of pictures and decorations on our walls - we wished we had put more things up at our old house, so I've been making that a priority here. I've had lots of our beautiful portraits printed, and I've been hitting all the frame sales at Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and JoAnn's - whoever has their frames on sale that week.

*I have started training for the White Rock Half again. Last weekend I did a 10K (6.2 miles) at White Rock Lake/The Dallas Arboretum - it was beautiful!

*Todd and I took the boys to drop-in care last Saturday and went on a quick date. We found a great little sushi place really close to our house - we are slowly finding some "favorite haunts" closer to our new location.
