Rainy Day Soccer

These pictures were taken on a rainy Friday a few weeks ago. This was my running get-up - a poncho and my old tennis shoes. It's kind of fun to live in a neighborhood where you know people and run into them up at the school or grocery...about once a month I hear..."Was that you I saw running in the (insert inclement weather or early morning hour)? You're crazy." Yep, that's me. Crazy running lady. Running off (insert disease or poundage or mental illness here). Then the flip side of that is that I sometimes take a long walk on nonrunning days. Then I hear..."Hey, why aren't you running?" - I always want to say...Why aren't YOU? Ha.

We also went to a trial indoor soccer class with the ecpta that day - it was an indoor class, which worked out great with the rain. Henry really enjoyed the class, but it was a good reminder for me that he's not ready for any kind of organized class or sport. He had a hard time waiting in line...he couldn't understand why another child would get chosen to do something first, etc.

He's in the back middle of this picture in gray pants.

This is his little buddy from preschool. They have been in the same class for two years now.

My first sweater!

I needed a new crochet challenge, so I decided to try a sweater. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. It is 100% wool - so warm.

Here is the original pattern. You'll notice it has a big bow/scarf at the neck. I didn't think that would be very practical or look good on someone with a short neck.

So I followed some instructions from someone else to modify the neck. I love it! The buttons are made out of recycled plastic.

Fun at the Gym

Henry and I are really enjoying participating in our local Early Childhood PTA group. They have tons of fun activities planned for moms and kids that are close to our house. A couple of weeks ago, we went to a little gym that was open for just our ECPTA group. He had so much fun. The most fun he had was with a pool noodle and a balloon. I think I might have to get some of those for summer!

New Shower

Our master bath was pretty shabby - very dated and lots of missing grout. And it was leaking water. So we decided to jump in with both feet and completely rebuild it. I found a tile company through our neighbors...who also have 20+ year old homes and have had lots of work done. Two neighbors recommended this company which is owned by a woman - I loved working with her. She gave great advice to someone who doesn't have the gift of decorating! She also suggested we do a relatively cheap tile surround around our old tub to tie it all together.

Here are our before pictures...

Leo explained that the house is like the human body. The insulation is the tissue and the pipes are the blood vessels. Genius.

The finished product! We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! Feels like showering at a fancy hotel every morning.
