Lubbock Trip Part 1

Last weekend, we traveled to Lubbock for the wedding of one of Todd's niece's. We decided to make this trip by car, and we decided to drive no more than 3 hours per day b/c we have learned that that is Henry's limit. After that, he screams and screams and nothing will make him happy. So...we packed up and headed out on Thursday and drove to Abilene. We spent the night in a hotel that is suites so we would have room for us all to stay comfortably. It worked great - just about the time Henry was getting really out of sorts, it was time to get out.

I got pictures of the start of the trip...

They were so excited to get to stay in a hotel! Leo had a million questions about what the room would be like, would we have to pay for it, etc.

We went across the street to the Abilene mall to El Chico's for dinner, and then we rode on a very tiny merry-go-round.

On Friday morning, we had breakfast at the hotel and then hit the road. Henry fell asleep almost immediately - he didn't sleep well at the hotel - and he asked Leo to hold his hand while he slept. A rare moment of peace between them.

After we ate lunch at Gran's, we went for a little fun at the park since the weather was so beautiful.

He knows what he wants!

This morning, Henry came in the kitchen and told me he wanted scrambled eggs for breakfast. I asked him if he wanted cheese on the eggs. He said..."No. Not on top. Cheese in the hole."

So he's having a two cheese omelet - cheddar and parmiggiano-reggiano. He has quite a life!!!

fingerknitting

We are trying to watch less tv these days. Leo was developing a very smart mouth...we got complaints from the teacher. (hanging head in shame) I think some of it was from tv. So it has been arts and crafts central around here in the afternoons.

Today, we are fingerknitting.

Putting the pieces together

We have discovered that Leo loves jigsaw puzzles! Or, at least he does this week! For the last few days, we've been putting puzzles together every day after we finish homework. Of course, Henry has to have a puzzle, too.

I think these are all the puzzles Leo has done this week. He did the Princess one all by himself. He is really a lot of fun to do puzzles with!
