Picking tomatoes

We're having the best garden year we've ever had!  All we're getting is tiny tomatoes, but it's growing like crazy. Fun to watch. In the past we've had little scraggly plants that just sit there. We also have pumpkin vine bc I buried a pumpkin in there after Halloween.

Multi Church Campout at Eisenhower State Park April 12-14

We went to Eisenhower State Park for a big UU campout a few weeks ago. There were people from several different area churches. It was organized by a man from Community UU in Plano. You could pay extra for chuckwagon bkfsts and there was also a potluck. Less food to pack - Yay! There were over 50 kids there for our kids to play with!

We really, really loved this campground. The screened shelters area was the best! We hope to go back. Also, the weather was *perfect* this weekend. Love those few little TX spring wknds when everything is beautiful.

I still can't park this car very well.

Us, with a little Instagram magic.

The boys, with a little Instagram magic. After using a $20 Wal Mart tent for a couple of years, we bought the boys a little REI brand tent. Leo can put it up himself. It's a much nicer tent, and really wasn't terribly expensive.

There was a little trail right across from our campsite that went straight to Lake Texoma. This is the entrance.

There were tons of seashell fossils and such in the rocks. I was amazed that they were just everywhere. This is Henry fossil hunting.

Elvis marshmallow. (nutella)

Henry holding hands with his friend from RE (aka Sunday School), Logan. This picture is from a tour that we took at Dominion Farms. It was a really interesting tour for all of us! They do everything grass fed, no antibiotics, no hormones, no fertilizer on the grass, etc. Fascinating! We all noticed that there was really no stench or smell at all.  I want to go back and buy some of their eggs. They say there is a real difference. I think you can buy their products at some local Farmer's Markets.

The baby chicks live in an old RV. So funny.

The kids join hands to do clean up crew.

This is the chicken coop. The farmer uses old political signs from his relatives who run for office to make the chicken coop. Lots of political joke potential there.

Not sure why these pics are not with the other farm pics, but I'm too lazy to figure out how to move them around.

Spring Break Camping at Martin Creek Lake

OK, I haven't done this in so long that they've changed some things. No time to mess with it now!

This is pictures from our camping trip to Martin Creek Lake at Spring Break. It was a new park to us, and we won't be going back. But now that I look at the pictures, they look pretty good! The top pics are from when we had to go find firewood to buy. Big hassle. We take these boys some fancy places - I'm telling you!

Unexpected lovely Wednesday

The boys were supposed to be in LA last week, so I scheduled a haircut for Wed morning. But the boys weren't able to go b/c Henry had been sick....so they were with me. I still drive back to Allen to get my hair cut, so I asked on Facebook for a park recommendation in the area for that morning. The only recommendation was Dayspringg Nature Preserve http://www.cityofallen.org/index.aspx?NID=1312....and the pictures on the Internet did not look too promising. But the description seemed interesting, so I decided to give it a shot. So glad we did!

Behind the play area, there was a beautiful creek to explore!

We decided to follow the creek and explore.

We had to crawl under these vines at one point. Henry named this "The Place where Indians would have lived."

Leo found lots of raccoon tracks. At this point, he informed Henry that Billy the Exterminator says that raccoons will "tear your throat out," which scared Henry to death...and he is still asking about it 5 days later. *sigh*

Leo was so excited to find these frog eggs. They are the two lines at the left that sort of look like a necklace. I was pretty impressed that he found these and knew what they were. When I looked up "frog eggs" on Google images, there were lots of pictures just like this. Leo took this picture.

Leo wanted to take this last picture of the creek as we left.
