Cutest Backpack Ever

I realized that I forgot to post pictures of Henry in his new backpack for school. It is the "preschool" backpack from Pottery Barn Kids. It looks tiny when he's not wearing it, but it's just the right size for his little body. He just carries diapers and wipes in there, and his drink on the side in the little elastic/mesh pocket. I have learned that at this stage in my life, backpacks are useless if they do not have a side mesh pocket for easy access to a sippy cup!

A glimpse of dinner at our house

Cross-posted on the cooking blog

Oven Fried Chicken Parmesan

Recipe Link

This chicken parmesan recipe came out in this month's Dinner Tonight section (fast recipes) of Cooking Light, and it got rave reviews at my house tonight. I served with polenta and salad, as pictured.

I pounded the chicken flat - I think that was the only modification I made. It had a nice crispy panko crust that we enjoyed. I wouldn't call it super-fast..but I started at 4:50 and was done by 5:35 with all of it. That's pretty quick for me!

Leo worked on his Bendaroos while we ate.

Then Henry wanted me to take a picture of his food, too.

They usually don't stay at the table through all of dinner. Tonight we got some entertainment. That Elmo thing is the LOUDEST toy ever - Thanks a million, Aunt LeeLee.

Henry's first day of preschool, 2009

Today is Henry B's first day of preschool for this school year...and there is much rejoicing! He will be going 9-2, TWTh. He loves all his little friends, the fun activities, his teachers, going to chapel time, etc. I am going to get a chance to catch my breath and get things done without having someone have a meltdown!

Here is my attempt to get his picture this morning with our traditional fancy sign. I know, I could photoshop...but where's the fun in that???

Shell shock...post-traumatic stress disorder...etc?

This morning at about 2am, I woke up b/c Todd was making jerky movements and covering his head with his hands.

Todd: What was that?
Me: Huh? What?
Todd: They're throwing things at us.
Me: Who?
Todd: The boys. They're throwing something at us.
Me: You're having a nightmare.

Yeah, I think that pretty much sums up a weekend at our house and what it can do to one's mental state!

Oh, and Henry locked himself in the bathroom last night and then had a big poop. It took us 35+ minutes to get him out, so he had a bad diaper rash. Someone pointed out the irony of getting a diaper rash while IN THE BATHROOM. haha. Needless to say, we are taking locks off of as many doors as possible.

New fan!

Look at our great little home improvement project! It took the normal 3 trips to Lowe's...the first one - bent. Todd figured that out when he was putting on the last blade. The second one - I accidentally brought home a bronze fan. Todd thought it might look ok, but I nixed that. haha. The third one is perfect! Looks so much better!

The old fan. Notice the wicker inserts in the blades. A little too retro for me!

The new fan. And I have to say...It was on clearance for $61. The third one was the last silver one they had. Woo Hoo! Look how great it looks with the other fixture.
